The first Jean Monnet Module Training Course “Rule of law, democracy and human rights as elements of cohesion and survival of the European Union: areas of action and improvement” (RDH), Project No. 101233195 will be held from December 1 to 10, 2025. It will be in online format.
This in-depth program will bring together leading academics and legal experts from Spain, Poland, and Serbia to dissect the current state and future prospects of one of the European Union's foundational principles.
The course is structured to provide a multi-faceted analysis, beginning with the historical foundations of the Rule of Law in the EU and moving to specific national challenges and comparative perspectives.

Monday, December 1, 2025 (16:00-19:00h): "The European Union and the Rule of Law: historical construction and future challenges" by Harold Bertot Triana, Accredited Tenured Professor of Public International Law and International Relations, Universidad Internacional de la Empresa.

Tuesday, December 2, 2025 (16:00-19:00h): "The challenges of the Rule of Law in Spain: the Spanish procedural system" by Xulio Ferreiro Baamande, Tenured Professor of Procedural Law, Universidade da Coruña (UDC).

Wednesday, December 3, 2025 (16:00-20:00h): "The challenges to the rule of law in Serbia, with special reference to the judicial system" featuring two senior researchers from Belgrade: Marina Matic Bošković (Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research) and Jelena Kostic (Institute of Comparative Law).

Thursday, December 4, 2025 (16:00-19:00h): "The challenges of the Rule of Law in Spanish Public Administration: a national and comparative perspective" by María José Molina García, Secretary General of Universidad Internacional de la Empresa and Planeta Formación y Universidades, and Harold Bertot Triana.

Friday, December 5, 2025 (16:00-19:00h): "The challenges to the rule of law in Poland: with special reference to the judicial system" by Barbara Janusz-Pohl, Professor of Criminal Procedure at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland.
